About This Tool
Simply drawing a black box over text isn't enough; the underlying data must be physically removed to be secure. The Find and Redact tool allows you to search for specific words, phrases, or patterns and permanently purge them from the document's code.
Use our Batch Redaction to find every instance of a name or SSN across a 100-page document instantly. For advanced users, we support Regular Expressions (Regex), allowing you to catch every credit card number or email address with a single command. The result is a clean document where the sensitive info is replaced by a professional black bar or custom placeholder text.
Privacy-First Censorship: Redaction is often performed on the most sensitive data imaginable. Because our tool runs locally, your unredacted document is never exposed to the internet.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this safer than just highlighting in black?
Yes! Highlighting only covers the text visually. Redaction physically deletes the characters from the PDF file, making it impossible to "copy-paste" or "uncover" the data.
Can I redact images?
This specific tool is text-based. For images or scanned documents without OCR, we recommend using our manual area-redaction tool.
What is a Regular Expression (Regex)?
Regex is a powerful search code. For example, using \d{3}-\d{2}-\d{4} would find every Social Security Number in your document automatically.
